When hosting a wedding or bridal shower, the correct invitation wording will be very helpful to ensure guests understand what’s happening, and who is invited. You’ll want to include all of the relevant details, from the date and time to the location and dress code, and perhaps even an RSVP card to your shower if you are being more formal, or a custom shower activity / games card to get the party started.

What to Include on the Bridal Shower Invitation
What do you write on a wedding or bridal shower invitation? The Must-Haves:
When it comes to writing your wedding or bridal shower invitations, there are a few key things that you will want to include.
Those Invited
Often, showers are for a specific group of friends and family. Make sure to clearly label who in the household you are inviting on the mailing envelope, so that attendees know whether it is kid-friendly, or meant for only specific household members.
Guest(s) of Honor
You will want to include the name(s) of the guest(s) of honor on your invitation–the spouse-to-be! However, if you are having a co-ed shower or a couples shower, you may also include both names on the invitation.

Date, Time, and Location
In addition to the date, time, and name of the location, make sure to include the address of the venue so there is no confusion for the guests (and you don’t have to field texts or calls for information later).
RSVP Information
Including a date by which guests should RSVP, as well as a way for them to confirm their attendance either through phone, email, or even an online form would make things easier.
Registry or Gift Information
If you are including registry information on your invitation, you will want to be sure to include a way for guests to access the registry. You can do this by including the URL of the online registry, or by providing the name and location of the store where you are registered.
If you would prefer not to include registry information on your invitation, you can always include a note that says “No gifts, please” or “Your presence is the only gift we need.”

While the details mentioned above are the must-haves for your bridal shower invitation, there are a few optional details that you may want to include as well. These include:
The Host’s Name(s)
It’s proper etiquette to include the host name(s) on the invitation, whether it’s the Maid/Matron of Honor, family or sibling, or a close family friend.
Shower Theme
If you are having a themed event, you may want to include information about the wedding or bridal shower theme on the invitation. This will give your guests a heads up to dress appropriately or bring gifts that fit the theme. You can use these wedding and bridal shower themes for some ideas.

Dress Code

Is it okay to send email invitations to a wedding shower?
Everyone is constantly on their phone so you might be wondering if it's okay to ditch the paper invitations and go for email instead.
- If you’re planning a more casual gathering, then email invitations are perfectly acceptable.
- If you’re going for a more formal affair, it’s probably best to stick with a paper invitation.

Wedding Shower Invitation Wording Ideas to request RSVPs
When it comes to requesting RSVPs, there are a few things you’ll want to do.
You should include the date by which you would like to receive the RSVPs so your guests know when they need to respond by. This is helpful so that the host and venue know how many people to expect.
You’ll also want to include a contact method for guests to use when responding. This could be a phone number, email address, or even a link to an online RSVP form. Be sure to include who they are RSVPing to, as well so they know who to communicate with should they have any questions.
You can include a separate RSVP card with the invitation that guests can fill out and return, or you can simply include the information on the invitation itself.

Shower Invitation Wording about Dress Codes
When it comes to dress code, it's always a good idea to include some indication on the invitation. That way, your guests will show up in the proper attire.
To make things easy for your guests, you might want to include something like “Dress Code: Casual” or “Dress Code: Formal.” Some other dress code wording for invitations might be:
- A formal dress code is requested.
- Please dress in your best!
- Dress to impress!
- co*cktail attire requested.
- Dressy casual attire.
- Festive dress encouraged!
- No specific dress code, but please avoid jeans and sneakers.
How far in advance should wedding bridal shower invitations be mailed?
It’s generally a good idea to send out your invitations at least six weeks in advance. This will give your guests time to RSVP and make arrangements to attend.
That being said, if you will have many guests coming in from out of town, you should mail out the invitations at least three months in advance so travel and lodging arrangements can be made.
Addressing your bridal shower invitations
When it comes to addressing your invitations, there are a few things you'll want to keep in mind.
- If you’re sending paper invitations, be sure to use proper etiquette and address each envelope by hand.
- If you’re sending electronic invitations, be sure to include all relevant information (date, time, location, etc.) in the body of the email.
