Disney Tangled Themed Picnic Recipes (2024)

Following on from the Winnie the Pooh Picnic that I shared yesterday, I'm so excited about my partnership withDisneyLife– the service that gives you Disney movies, TV, books and music – that I'm declaring this week 'Disney Week' here on the Eats Amazing blog! Each day I'm going to share another of my 5 fun Disney inspired picnics, and today it's the turn of my 'Tangled' picnic. If you have a little Tangled fan at home, you could take your Tangled themed picnic to the grounds of a castle for a magical day they'll never forget!

This week DisneyLife revealed the top 20 family picnic spots in Britain (as voted for in a national poll of parents),with Three Cliffs Bay in Gower, Wales in the winning spot and Padley Gorge in Derbyshire coming in a very close second. Nearly all of the parents surveyed (98%) agreed that a family picnic in a beautiful location is one of the best things to do in the summer holidays, and I completely agree!

Cheese Straw ‘Braids’

Ingredients:

  • 320g ready rolled sheet pastry
  • 50g cream cheese
  • 75g grated cheddar
  • 1 egg white

Method:

Preheat oven to 200°C (Gas mark 6/400°F). Line 2 baking trays with non-stick baking paper.

Unroll the puff pastry sheet, then use a sharp knife to slice the sheet into 6 pastry squares. With the back of the knife, mark out 2 lines to divide each square into 3rds.

Divide the cream cheese between the 6 pastry squares and spread it down the centre third of each square. Sprinkle the grated cheddar over the top of the cream cheese.

Cut strips into the side of each pastry square, about 1cm wide.

Starting at the bottom of each square, fold the pastry strips in over the cheese centre, alternating strips from each side to form a braid. Fold the ends of the final strips underneath to keep them neat.

Transfer the braids to the lined oven trays.

Lightly whisk the egg white with a splash of water, then brush over the pastry to glaze.

Bake in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes until cooked through and golden.

Transfer to a baking tray to cool completely before packing for your picnic.
