Michael Scott Lucas, 60, of Carbondale, passed away Monday, February 7, 2022.

He was born September 28, 1961, in Chillicothe, Missouri, the son of Harlan and Charlotte (Gregory) Lucas.

He attended South Nodaway High School and graduated in 1979.

Michael worked in maintenance for Fontainebleau Apartments. Prior to his current job he worked for Douglas Rural Water District #3 as a Class 4 Water Operator for approximately 20 years.

Mr. Lucas was a member of the Masonic Lodge #70 in Carbondale, Carbondale Lions Club, North American Hunting Club and volunteered for the Carbondale Fire Department.

Michael married Paula Anstaett on April 24, 1992 in Carbondale, KS.

Survivors include his wife, Paula Lucas of Carbondale; his sons, Matthew (Ashley) Anstaett of Carbondale, James Lucas of Topeka and Mark Lucas of Carbondale; his grandson, Harlan Anstaett; his mother, Charlotte Lucas of Carbondale; his siblings, David Lucas of Carbondale, Sharon (Jesse) Crouch of Missouri, Bonnie (Marlon) Jackson of Burlingame, Roger (Gloria) Lucas of Topeka and his sister, Mitzi (Ben) Kohlleppel of Burlingame; his thirty-six nieces and nephews and host of other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harlan and a nephew, Shawn Boner.

Michael loved to hunt and fish. He especially enjoyed working with his son on the farm. Michael would volunteer his time to help anyone in need. He enjoyed working as a Class 4 Water Operator. Most of all he relished in watching his children play sports and spending time with his family and friends.

Honoring Michael’s request, cremation is planned. A memorial ceremony will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Dove Cremations and Funerals – Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd., Topeka, KS 66610. A visitation will take place one hour prior to the service time.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Kansas Chapter, "LLS Lower Plains Region", PO Box 772395, Detroit, MI 48277.
