Introduction

Last Updated: 26th Nov 2022

This guide is a reference for optimal failstacks for different types of gear, it also contains gear progression advice to help players who aren’t sure what to upgrade next.

If you’re looking for the basics of enhancing please click here

Enhancing Guidelines

Important note: “(maximum of X)” refers to the amount of failstacks you should use on this item before stopping and using a different failstack. This is to make your enhancing as cost effective as possible and make sure you save your failstacks for higher gear. It might be annoying to stop when you are unlucky with failstacks, but it works out better in the end!

Tuvala Armor

  • Safe enhance to +5
  • Use 0 or more fail stacks to get +6
  • Use 0 or more fail stacks to get +7
  • Use 3 or more fail stacks to get +8

Gear Progression (Season to Endgame)

This section is currently WIP

The gear progression section is currently WIP and needs polishing. Some parts such as the order of certain progression (eg. when to complete adventure journals), artifacts/lightstones and crystals setups still need to be fixed and updated for the current game meta. Please use the template as guidance only.

Before we begin, I would highly recommend that unless you are already at full TET gear, you should create a season character. Even if you are a returning player, you may benefit from the free TET accessories you can get from the Season Gift Exchange Coupon.

Season characters get lots of extra benefits:

  • Free rewards like extra inventory space and upgrade materials
  • Permanent Combat and Skill EXP on the season channels
  • Additional skill points when completing the main story
  • Special gear which is much easier to enhance, and can eventually be exchanged and upgraded to PEN boss gear with 100% chance

Use our Season Server guide to help you learn more about Season characters

If you’re still unsure what you should be doing next or want specific advice on your gear, feel free to hop into our discord and ask questions in the help section.

Beginner Gear (Level 1 to 55) – 143 AP / 205 DP

  • Follow the main questline to until the end of the Mediah storyline.
  • Around level 25 – 30, you will start to get Naru Gear and Beginner Blackstones
  • Open your inventory and right-click the Black Stones to open the enhancing window. Here you can select your Naru gear and enhance it. Don’t worry about failstacks for your Naru gear, it has very high chance of success and you should easily be able to get it to PEN.
  • When you have PEN Naru, convert it to PRI Tuvala straight away in the enhancing window (see image)
  • Use whichever accessories are available to you with the best stats. I personally wouldn’t bother with enhancing Naru Accessories until you have all your gear to PEN because they have very little AP on them and later on will be replaced by better accessories. You can get the naru accessories by exchanging Beginner Black Stone x5 at Fughar.

Gear Progression & Failstacking Guide - BDFoundry (1)

Awakening and/or Succession (Level 56) – 163 AP / 165 AAP / 228 DP

  • Complete your class awakening and/or succession quests. Found in your quest log (O) > Suggested
  • Start enhancing the Tuvala gear with Time-filled Blackstones.
  • Prioritise your weapons first, then your armor

Gear Progression & Failstacking Guide - BDFoundry (2)

Complete Regional Quests (Level 58) – 185 AP / 195 AAP / 251 DP

  • Continue to upgrade your Tuvala gear
  • Use the Frozen Tides Black Stone to enhance either your mainhand or awakening weapon to PEN with 100%
    • If you are using succession skills, enhance your mainhand, if you are using the awakening spec, enhance your awakening weapon
  • Complete the Regional quests at Titium Valley, Cadry Ruins, and Crescent Shrine for better accessories
  • Start doing the Weekly quests for more materials
  • Start doing the daily quests for the Guarenteed PEN Accessory.
  • Start/complete the Magnus Questline and select the PEN Griffon Helmet as your reward (you will use this after you graduate)

Gear Progression & Failstacking Guide - BDFoundry (3)

Complete the Season Pass (Level 61) – 241 AP / 243 AAP / 305 DP

  • Complete the season pass by leveling to 61. Use our 58 – 59 leveling guide and 59 – 60 guide to help you.
    • Speak to your Black Spirit to get the quest [Season] To Greater Heights! – for this quest you need to kill 5,000 monsters. Complete the quest to obtain “Fughar’s Precious Necklace”. Take the next quest from the Black Spirit, but don’t complete it just yet.
    • Follow our 60 – 61 guide UNTIL YOU REACH 97 – 99%.
    • Go to Fughar and give him the necklace to complete the previous quest. This will get you to level 61 and will give you the most EXP towards 62.
  • In your Challenge rewards (Y), you will now have a PEN Tuvala Earring and PEN Tuvala Ring.
  • Enhance the rest of your Tuvala gear to PEN.
    • Optional: enhance your Tuvala accessories to PEN (you will replace these soon anyway)

Gear Progression & Failstacking Guide - BDFoundry (4)

Season post-graduation – 246 AP / 248 AAP / 307 DP

  • Graduate from the season servers.
  • Collect the PEN Capotia Necklace from Fughar, using your Season Gift Exchange Coupon.
  • Research Damage Reduction VS Evasion, and make an important decision about which armors you want to go
    • In this example, I will be using Damage Reduction armors, since it is the most common choice and viable on all classes
  • Research the Guarenteed PEN Boss Gear system and weight up your choices.
    • For this example, I’m going to use the Season Boss Exchange coupon to get a TET Kutum weapon so I can try to enhance it straight away with cron stones. For all other pieces, I exchange them at Jetina.
    • The reason I chose the Kutum weapon, is because if it fails, I can keep it at TET with no worries. A PEN Kutum is a smaller upgrade than the others, and usually left until last. If you have lots of enhancing materials and feel lucky, you can choose to exchange your Tuvala mainhand or awakeing weapon, which is a more important item to try and get straight away. It depends on whether you like enhancing or not.
    • Choose Red Nose Armor at Jetina to save yourself silver later on.

Journals and Guaranteed PENS – 251 AP /261 AAP / 311 DP

  • Progression will now start to slow down a bit more. Save up your silver in preparation for buying new gear.
  • Continue working on the guaranteed PENs. Go to as many world bosses as possible to get these done.
    • In this example, I finish my PEN Dandelion and PEN Red Nose, whilst saving up to buy or enhance other pieces of gear.
  • Start putting Caphras Stones into your PEN Red Nose as early as possible. You want to get to Caphras Level 10 on this gear piece.
  • Buy a Cup of Arid Moonlight for 250 million silver and use it on your Capotia Necklace
  • Complete the following adventure journals (these will take a while so don’t try to do them all at once):
    • Bartalli’s Adventure Log
    • Deve’s Encyclopedia
    • Book of Margahan
    • Herald’s Journal
    • Fughar’s Adventure Journal

Gear Progression & Failstacking Guide - BDFoundry (6)

Full PEN and replacing accessories – 269 AP / 271 AAP / 333 DP

  • Get the rest of your armors and weapons to PEN, using a mixture of the guaranteed method, and buying/enhancing the rest
  • Continue daily quests to work towards your PEN Crescent ring (Guaranteed PEN Accessory) – start using it as soon as it is TET
  • Continue putting Caphras Stones into your Red Nose armor to get it to Caphras level 10 as early as possible. If you get it to level 10, start putting them into your Griffon Helmet instead.
  • Buy a Vell’s Heart and TET Tungrad to push up to the 269 AP bracket
  • Create a new season character at the start of the next seasons, so you can collect the other season character accessories (PEN Capotia Ring and PEN Capotia Belt)
    • You can obtain these rewards the same way you got your PEN Capotia Necklace, you just need to create a season character for the next seasons and then graduate to get the Season Gift Exchange Coupon

  • Work towards you endgame accessories/build (check example endgame gear builds for ideas)

Gear Progression & Failstacking Guide - BDFoundry (12)

Example End-Game Gear Builds

Common Damage Reduction Builds

Offensive Human Damage/Accuracy

This build example is popular on classes that are full glass cannon and is one of the more common builds. Players will reach high AP and then start swapping accessories such as TET Distortion Earrings/Tungrad Earrings, for Dawn Earrings since they are high in accuracy. After reaching high accuracy and high AP, crystals can be swapped for human damage.

Gear Progression & Failstacking Guide - BDFoundry (13)

Hybrid DR

This build is popular on classes such as Warriors, Berserkers, and Valkyries. It is also viable on many more, who want a little more tankiness and don’t rely on accuracy as much as other classes due to high Hit Rate % on their skills.

Gear Progression & Failstacking Guide - BDFoundry (14)

Common Evasion Builds

Hybrid Evasion

This build is an example of what gear an evasion player will go for. Evasion players tend to go for PEN Distortion Earrings to make up from the loss of AP by running Kutum. It works very well on classes like Striker and Mystic, since they don’t benefit from extremely high AP as much as other classes do. For more AP instead of Acurracy, run Tungrad Rings instead of Ominous Rings.

If they would like to be tankier, they can swap the belt for a PEN Centaur’s Belt, and the necklace for a PEN Sicil Necklace. However, this would greatly decrease their damage. Finding the right balance between tankiness and still managing to kill other players is where evasion becomes really strong.

Full DP

The aim of the full DP build is to completely disregard all your damage with the goal of becoming very tanky. This build is only common on Shai, or in certain situations, such as a Berserker who wants to be a grab bot. There are different variations of this build, with different goals, but this one is the more consistent version that utilizes both Evasion and Damage Reduction. If you want to go FULL evasion then you would simply swap the Cadry Rings for Hesus Rings.
