ABOUT THE ROLE
As Business Development Manager, you will play a critical role in actively supporting Americold’s overall development by contributing to its corporate identity, ethics, values, and core behavioirs and ultimately making the organisation successful for shareholders, employees, and customers.
You will take the lead on expanding our APAC based customer profile in New Zealand through import/export opportunities. You will develop the end-to-end business development activity which includes the selling cycle through to launching and executing the product/service before transitioning to operations.
Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Deliver the required level of sustained top-line growth of Americold’s expansion, coordinating and integrated approach to sales, business development, and operational roll-out.
- Develop and maintain strong customer contacts, network contacts, and relationships with senior partners of Blue Chip customers.
- Develop strategies including targets, pricing, and resources through the PDP and Americold standard underwriting process.
- Manage, grow, and leverage relationships with customers.
- Direct the pricing proposal approval process using Americold templates and systems.
- Oversee new contract negotiation with Legal and Commercial.
- Participate in the Review of the quarterly plan to ensure alignment with long-range vision and short-term goals. Monitor KPIs and “value stream” analysis of the company’s customer accounts as needed.
- Reviews forecasts to ensure annual, quarterly, and monthly revenue targets are met.
- Meets department financial objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; and initiating corrective actions.
- Assist the Accounts Receivable team in managing customer invoicing resolutions.
- Recommends and implements procedural, policy, technical, and personal ideas on an ongoing basis by interfacing with operations personnel, customers, and support departments.
- Improve customer service quality by studying, evaluating, and re-designing processes; establishing and communicating service metrics; monitoring and analyzing results; and implementing changes.
- Work with Business Development and Operations to ensure customer expectations are achieved.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory bodies, best practices, and company guidelines and policies
ABOUT YOU
To be successful in this role you will be a self-starter, be able to work independently and be able to meet the travel requirements of this position.
You will also have and be able to demonstrate the following:
- Minimum 5-7 years experience in business development in relative industry such as 3PL, distribution, warehousing, consolidation, supply chain, transportation, logistics, and food consumer package goods.
- Strong industry experience with specific knowledge of processors, wholesalers, brokers, retailers, etc.
- Tertiary qualifications required in related areas, MBA desirable.
- Experience across international water, launching sales initiatives and networks.
- Experience and knowledge in international freight forwarding and Import/Export.
- Knowledge of Asia & China markets would be a distinct advantage.
- You will be familiar with WMS and RF.
- RFP development & presentation skills are essential.
- Demonstrated experience in creating and delivering service presentations and closing new business.
- Strong ability to form and maintain new business relationships.
- Must have a strong ability to influence at all levels of management. Negotiations and mediation skills.
- Experience in needs assessment, documentation, and process improvement.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple clients of various sizes.
